MUSICIANS, WHEN PRACTICING:
1. Try to practice in the same place every day. Choose a place where you can concentrate on making music.
2. Set goals for every practice session
3. Start with a warm-up routine.
If you are a beginner: play, from memory every note you have learned so far for 4 or more counts.
If you are advanced: play your scales and or rudiments(drummers) from memory
Like an athlete, you need to warm-up your mind and your muscles before you begin to play.
4. Play a homework line in the lesson book
5. Repeat the line, or sections of the line, until the entire line can be played smoothly.
6. Play another homework line.
7. Repeat the line, or sections of the line, until the entire line can be played smoothly.
8. Continue with this routine until the entire homework assignment can be performed smoothly.
9. Choose to rehearse the sections of the band songs that are for homework. Repeat the sections or entire song until it can be played smoothly.
10. at the end of your practice session, play something fun.
